Let's Do the Wok 'n' Roll
- It's Boom time
for Asian, particularly south Asian cuisine in
Canada. Infact, many predict that Canada will go the
way of the UK, where today, the Indian flavor reins
supreme as the peoples choice. In the great culinary
revolution underway, a less noticed development is
that of the emergence into Prominence of subset -
South Asian Chinese Cuisine. Of Course those of us
who grew up in the subcontinent ,
we know how good this particular innovation has been
to our taste buds. Developed over the early decades
of the twentieth century by the expat Chinese
population who had moved into then British India,
the south Asian flavors added a unique quality to
the ancient and formidable art of Chinese cuisine.
The Toronto Area has seen the rise of many such
eateries. |

South Asian Chinese
Restaurants come in different sizes and styles from the very
matter of act, quick turnover outlets to more elegant places
that boast of elaborate Menu's. Eddie's Wok 'n' Roll belongs
to the latter. Located in the commercial hub of Erin Mills
and Mill creek drive it can easily lay claim to being one of
the most impressive dining spaces among the south east Asian
Chinese restaurants. Edward knows the difference between
just being one player and aiming higher and standing out
offering an Asian Culinary tour with a distinct contemporary
flair. If you're in a mood to spend some serious time
exploring, (and remember Eddie has a full-fledged bar), then
you must nip into his place in the evening. And forget the
regulars, and start pursuing the 'specialties''.
